NiMind is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you remain in control.
1. What We Collect
With your consent, we may collect:
- Personal info:
- Name, email (only if provided during sign-up).
- Behavioral & Wellness Data:
- Physical activity (steps, movement)
- Sleep patterns (duration, timing)
- Location and movement variability (home/work/outdoor).
- Phone interaction patterns (for example, screen time).
- Heart rate and variability (if a wearable is integrated).
- Social connection indicators (collected passively with permissions)
- Passive device data:
- App usage and device interactions.
2. Why We Collect It
We collect this data to:
- Provide personalized insights and reflections.
- Deliver gentle check-ins and reminders.
- Improve your wellness experience over time.
- Support mental health research and development.
3. Data Use for Research
Your anonymized data may contribute to:
- Academic research or non-commercial studies.
- Scientific publications (in aggregate form)
- Better understanding of human behavior and mental wellness.
We never include personally identifiable information in any research.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We may share anonymized data:
- As required by law.
- With trusted partners (e.g., for secure hosting or analytics)
- For research purposes in de-identified, aggregated form only.
5. Your Rights
You can:
- Request access to your data.
- Ask us to delete your data.
- Withdraw from research participation at any time.
- Revoke your consent and stop using the app.

- End-to-end encryption and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other applicable privacy regulations.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the NiMind service and fulfil the purposes described in this policy:
- Account and personal information (name, email) is retained for the duration of your active account and deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Behavioral and wellness data is retained for up to 12 months of rolling history on our servers to power your personal insights. You may delete this data at any time from within the app.
- Anonymized research data (aggregated, non-identifiable) may be retained indefinitely for scientific and research purposes, as it cannot be linked back to you.
- Passive device and sensor data — raw sensor readings are processed on-device and never stored. Only derived wellness metrics are retained, subject to the 12-month limit above.
If you withdraw consent or delete your account, all personally identifiable data is purged from our systems within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated research data is not subject to deletion as it is not linked to you.
8. Children's Privacy
NiMind is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us for immediate deletion.
9. Permissions, Sensor Access and Background Data Processing
With your explicit, informed consent, NiMind may request access to the following device permissions and sensors. In every case the data is processed locally on your device — including while the app is running in the background — and raw sensor data is never stored or transmitted; only the final derived result (such as a wellbeing metric or insight) is retained:
- Location, including precise and background location — to derive context-aware wellbeing signals, processed on-device in the background.
- Microphone — to analyse audio locally for stress and mood indicators; no recordings or raw audio are stored or transmitted.
- Motion and gyroscope sensors — to recognise activity, movement and sleep patterns, processed on-device.
